I was born to shop. There is no two ways about it! I could shop from the moment I wake up to the time the shops are closed. Wonder what would happen if I had access to a 24 hour shopping centre? I have worked out that Shopping Is Healthy.
A lot of husbands would easily debate this concept, especially my amazing hubby. Actually he has to be so careful that he does not leave his eBay account logged on anymore as that is where I could easily do most of my Shopping.
Shopping Is Healthy
How can I get away with saying Shopping Is Healthy? Well seen as this is my blog site, and my blog post I can write what I want….to a certain degree! So if I say that Shopping Is Healthy then so be it.
There I said it!
Just kidding…..the reasons I say that Shopping Is Healthy is because I am addicted to getting out and about, and addicted to living a Healthy Lifestyle. Ever since I brought our Motorhome from eBay (yep I used hubby ebay account without him realising it!) we have done a complete turn around with a lifestyle. We are living a Different Life and we love it.
Here Are My Reasons Why I Say Shopping Is Healthy
Well, since I started the debate about Healthy living I guess I should share my thoughts about Shopping Is Healthy! Here are some of my view points.
If you have any of your own to add, then I am asking for your comments below!
- You are exercising while you shop. Do you know how many steps it takes to walk from one shopping centre to the other?
- Life is better when you are active. Getting out of the house is a great mindset activity. You are actually using your brain, your body and you will feel better for it.
- Make sure you meet a friend or two while you are shopping. Meeting someone that you like, and get along with helps you feel happy
- If you are shopping for a particular item (maybe a dinner dress, or nice shoes!) then you need to make sure you check out all of the shops before you buy. You need to get a good deal, and make sure its the best price for quality. Shopping around comparing prices means that you have the right attitude about being healthy while shopping
- Take cash instead of a card. Its so much easier to buy with cash, as you can see where the money is going. If you use a card, then you could easily spend way too much, and be feeling let down by your shopping trip instead of feeling good after wards.
- Leave the children at home while you shop. If you are looking for something that you want to buy, then make sure you shop while your children are either at home, or at school, or even at a friends house. Make the shopping trip about you!
- If you do find some really nice clothes, but you cant decide on which ones to buy, then try them all on. As you try on each outfit, take a photo on your phone and then send the picture to your better half. He sure will let you know which one looks the best!
- Wear comfortable shoes while you are shopping. Comfy shoes are the best as you are able to walk for longer, and walk for more hours (compared to high heels which will be asking you to sit down asap!)
- If you are doing food shopping then make sure you take a list of what you need – and eat before hand. A quick way to get a huge shopping bill is to do food shopping while hungry. So you need to choose a healthy cafe before you hit the isles with your shopping trolley!
- Book for your hair to be done at least once every 8 weeks. Or maybe a Massage, Pedicure, Manicure or even a spa. Being healthy starts from the inside, and it flows to the outside
- Try being really healthy by shopping at organic stores. There are many around, its just a matter of finding them!
I could easily write all day long about how Shopping Is Healthy for you. There is no end to this blog post topic…as I believe that you could start sharing about organic food, raw food, fresh cows milk, vegetarian food, preservative free food, colour free food, gluten free food…..the list is endless.
What Do You Think About Shopping Is Healthy? Do you eat food that is healthy? Do you exercise while out and about? Interested to hear from you.
Cheers
Lisa

Hi Lisa,
I agree Shopping is Healthy Last time I did a whole lot more walking as I got to the opposite end of the shopping center, and found my purse had fallen out of my handbag, so I had to walk the center 4 times instead of twice
Hi Rita,
Oh wow – did you get your purse back? At least you got to walk the shopping centre 4 times!
Cheers
Lisa
Hi Lisa,
I love your arguments why Shopping is Healthy
I have to go and exercise on a nice shopping trip and get my healthy dose of workout.
Healthy dose of exercise is great, and if you can combine it with shopping then all the better!
Cheers
Lisa
I totally agree Lisa that shopping is healthy. It can certainly make you feel good when you have purchased something you have always wanted and as you have said above, the exercise in walking the shopping centers is definitely good for you. (not to mention the coffee and cake while you are out)
oh Jackie I so miss our coffee and cake! I love shopping, and getting a bargain rocks!
Cheers Lisa
Hi Lisa
Glad to hear that shopping is healthy and wearing a comfortable pair of shoes is a must. It is easily to get carried away when using a credit card and agree using cash is a much better idea. I have to admit I have not been eating healthy food lately, my worst enemy is chocolate.
Hi Kerry,
My down fall is chocolate! But if you have good quality dark chocolate than you are eating healthy (as long as its not too much!) I love shopping, the only way for me to shop is with cash or I spend to much
Cheers
Lisa
LOL Lisa, I love your reasons for why Shopping is Healthy. Great post.
Thanks Tania – Shopping is healthy for so many reasons! I am glad you like it
Cheers

Ok, I’m convinced that shopping is healthy, and that makes me very happy
.
There is nothing better than sharing the shopping experience with a friend. The last time I was in the UK where I grew up, my great friend from school and I headed out for a day of shopping. We spent so much time sitting in cafes chatting and catching up, that the shopping nearly didn’t happen! Not that I’m complaining, as we had a great day.
Perhaps in the shopping malls that have multiple levels, you could take the stairs rather than the elevators?
Hi Hilary,
I love your story of having fun with your friend in the UK, sitting in cafes! What a way to spend a great day
Yep your idea of multiple levels in a shopping mall sounds like the perfect way to get healthy.
Cheers

Shopping can surely be a healthy pastime if you get to the larger centres. It takes you half a day to navigate them and find what you are after. A fun day out.
Hi Lisa,
Hah! I’m the opposite to you. I really don’t enjoy shopping even if it is for something personal and on the other side of the equation; I seem to live in a supermarket because of the kids. You can find us frequenting the produce section and preferably organic.
Great tips on shopping and very true to meet a friend and have a coffee and also leave the kids at home especially when clothes shopping.
Regards, Eileen.
Hello to all! Lisa, i am one very healthy person..i adore shopping!
